Turbonegro split up, but guitarist Euroboy goes on. The first effort of his new band Euroboys is an E.P., titled "1999 Man". It opens with the title track, which is a great straight ahead rock song with a really danceable groove and a very catchy chorus. It even has some underground hit potential. When hearing the vocals automatically the name Crispin Mills (Kula Shaker) comes to mind, but Euroboys rock much heavier. Except for the second song, called "Ballad Of Kirk And The Jerks", which seems to be a parody on Metallica ballads. The third song "Part Animal" is an odd combination of styles: imagine Kula Shaker, Steppenwolf and Motorpsycho (at the times of their Trust Us 2CD) smashed into a blender together and stirred just long enough to fix you a very tasty juice. The final piece, "Witchbanger", is a six minute psychedelic instrumental. All in all a very diverse CD. Maybe even a little too diverse, because you could get the feeling that the Euroboys are still searching for the musical path they want to follow. But on the other hand, It might also make you curious what the first full length of this band will sound like. |
