Cosmic Debris
Ooo, this is a strange, strange record. Euroboys hail from Oslo, Norway, where they've built up quite a following with their spacey retro-dreampop, and rightly so, since they do what they do with imagination and verve. Um, hey, come to think of it, there's a bit of The Verve in here, as well as a spice mix of Iron Butterfly, Spirit, any number of San Fran jam bands and, well, their debt to The Velvet Underground is at least partly paid with the line "how do you think it feels" in "99 Degree." With sliding, distorted and echoing guitars, steady thumping bass, cymbal-intensive drums and a shimmering Farfisa organ tying it all together, the Euroboys sound is a throwback to the days hen you needed a tab of specially treated paper to appreciate things like this. Hopefully, we've all grown up enough to get it on our own. The garage-psych crowd will have no problem there, as Euroboys pick up where Blacklight Chameleons left off, taking us on a starship glider ride worth the ticket price.

The last i heard of "euroboy" was his exquisite riffing on the TURBONEGRO record "Apocalypse Dudes." A mess of punk, glam, and 70's rock, with a huge dose of humor on the side. One of the best records of 1998 for sure. He's returned with his outfit the "EUROBOYS." This record is a tornado of norwegian pyschedelia, 70's disco and that shit you hear in the elevator heading up to your dentist's office. Good for him. This is outta nowhere, considering the last time Turbonegro was in the states their singer was shoving roman candles up his ass. My parents might have listened to this back in the day when they were sneaking off to smoke that roach clip that had been sitting around for the last 6 months left over from the singles party they had thrown to celebrate the 60s-modern furniture they had bought. lots of sexy rhythems, acoustic-electric guitars, keyboards, flutes?? and a whole ton of other sounds make this record a must for any sort a shindig your planning where people have to take their shoes off before entering the house. File it next to "esquival."
